A Passion For Souls

There is an old hymn that goes like this:

“Give me a passion for souls, dear Lord,

 A passion to save the lost;

 O that Thy love were by all adored,

 And welcomed at any cost.

Jesus, I long, I long to be winning

 Men who are lost, and constantly sinning;

 O may this hour be one of beginning

 The story of pardon to tell.

What’s your passion?

Do you want to make more money? Do you want a better job? Do you want to move? There’s nothing wrong with wanting these things but are they your passion? As Christians our passion should be to win souls for Christ. Our Lord’s last command tells us so:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

This has to be our passion and this is how we can change the world. There are a lot of crazy, scary things going on in our country and the only thing that will change these things is men and women coming to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

As Americans it’s our responsibility to vote and be informed about what’s going on but the only way anything will change is by us having a passion for souls and telling others about Jesus.

When we stop just looking people and start seeing them as lost souls is how we make a difference and start a revival that could turn this country back in a positive direction. Again I ask you, what’s your passion?

We have to stop living our life for us and we what we want, we need to start living for HIM. In the past we have seen great revivals and many come to Christ, why haven’t we seen one in our generation?

Maybe because we have lost focus and don’t have that passion for souls, maybe we have allowed ourselves to be distracted for too long. It’s time for us to see others as Christ sees them, it’s time for us to take our eyes off of all these distractions and obey our Lord’s command.

It’s time for us to get a passion for souls; it’s time for a revival that no politician can deny, a movement that brings this country and this world back to Jesus Christ!
