I can't WAIT to join the Prisoner Club!

Have you ever seen other Christians receive blessing upon blessing and wondered why it’s not happening for you?

Have you ever prayed the same thing a million times and still not gotten an answer? 

Have you ever stood upon scripture, declaring truth in your life, and still not seen results?

If you’ve answered “YES” to any of these (or all of them if you’re like me) then join the PRISONER CLUB.

Being a Prisoner of Christ doesn’t have to mean a literal cell. 

Prison can take on a variety of forms: disease, financial strain, social isolation, job loss, miscarriages, etc.

It can be so easy to ask God, “WHY?” when we are sitting in a cell, WAITING!

Waiting for answers.

Waiting for deliverance.

Waiting for miracles.

Waiting to be used.

Waiting to find rest.

Waiting for God to DO something to change our situation.

I know I’ve been in this situation more than once (I tend to be impatient so waiting isn’t my strong point). But Sorge brought some healing and enlightenment in chapter 3 of his book, “The Fire of Delayed Answers.”

“God strategically imprisons some of His servants in order to prepare them for His purposes…The Lord oversees our suffering from beginning to end…”

The initial pain of waiting is hard and God understands that- He designed us after all. 

It’s hard to realize the answer we are looking for isn’t coming “how” or maybe “when” we want.

It’s hard to have a dream put on hold.

It’s hard to have plans changed, careers end, marriages collapse, and so on.

Waiting is hard.

Prison is hard. No matter what form it comes to us. 

When I was pregnant with my miracle son, I was on reduced activity (not bed rest, but close enough). It was frustrating not being able to DO things. I felt like time was passing me by and I wasn’t being productive.

God showed me that I could use that time to draw closer to Him. Instead of sitting on the couch watching movies that would pollute my mind, I could spend time reading His Word. Instead of pouring over the endless social media sites, I could use my talent to write FOR God. 

God used my down time to build me up, to grow our relationship and to show me there was more to me than what I knew.

“One of the purposes of prison is to give the prisoner

great quantities of time to spend with the Lord.”

Oh, that is so true, my friend!

I cherish that time. I wish I had MORE of it now.

I realize not all types of “prison” are as nice as mine, but the point is still the same, use that time to get to know God more. Don’t let it drive you away from Him, GO TO HIM!

“God is using your imprisonment to perfect the wine of your

love and to prepare you for greater fruitfulness.”

Don’t waste the precious time God has given you to draw closer to Him…you may never get it back.

Time is a comedy.

God is Good. 

Trust in Him.

Wait for Him.

Use your time wisely.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 KJV
